FAMILIES POST PANDEMIC
Post pandemic, families have had to adapt to a new reality, dealing with the numerous consequences of the pandemic. With countless job losses and significant changes to how people are living, there has been an emotional toll on families everywhere.
It has caused families to spend more time together, creating an emotional burden and struggling to maintain healthy communication.
Additionally, many parents have had to navigate the challenges of providing remote schooling and mental health resources for their children, with few options available in many cases. In terms of finances, the economic impacts of the pandemic have taken a heavy toll on many families, resulting in decreased wages, debt, and difficulty finding jobs.
To compound the difficulty, families are now having to prioritize their spending and adjust their expectations. Despite the hardships, many families have used this time as an opportunity to come closer together, embrace new challenges, and grow in strength.
For some families, the consequences of the pandemic have been devastating. Family members who once worked and brought financial security to the family suddenly became unemployed, leading to immense economic hardship.
Family dynamics shifted drastically as children found themselves at home unable to attend school, creating extra pressure and responsibility for parents who often had to take on the additional roles of being teacher, friend, and caretaker.

Post-pandemic, the consequences for families have been immense. We have seen the creation of bubbles and distancing guidelines, social activities and travel being curtailed, and businesses either changing their operating model or ceasing operations. This has resulted in family members having to become creative in their means of connecting and communicating with one another. Whether it be Zoom calls or late night talks, families have had to get creative with the time they have to remain connected while keeping safe.
While this period has had it's challenges, it has also given families time to pause, reset and reflect on their relationships. Now more than ever it has been a reminder of the value of togetherness and an opportunity for families to deepen their connection with one another. For that reason, families should seize this opportunity and find unique ways to make the most of their time together, knowing that these are the moments we will always cherish.
For other families, the pandemic has highlighted just how much of a difference it makes when everyone can come together and be supportive of each other, creating meaningful experiences of connection, comfort, and hope in these times. But overall, the pandemic has created an atmosphere of tension, doubt, and sadness for families who, like so many others, have been living with fear of the unknown.
