ELDERY JOBS

ELDERLY CRAFTSMEN

With the advent of the global covid-19 pandemic, several elderly people, who produced handicrafts in order to sell and complement their livelihood, were affected and lost their livelihood, which often provided an extra income to complement a meager retirement due to isolation measures.

Today thousands of seniors are experiencing financial difficulties, a reflection of the global financial crisis, post-pandemic. Several sectors of the economy closed their production resulting in a lack of products and a general increase in prices, many of which are inputs for the manufacture of handicrafts.

Elderly people were the hardest hit by isolation measures and are precisely the most fragile in society, many of them experience immense difficulties, even hunger, and can barely afford a medical appointment, take tests or buy medicines for continuous use.

This project proposes to promote, through donations, a means of subsistence for elderly artisans who are experiencing financial difficulties, through a physical infrastructure with a dedicated space for craft workshops and an organizational staff providing a digital MKT strategy, aimed at the dissemination and direct sales to the public and via e-commerce, in addition to promoting dissemination through social networks, symposiums and events, providing the purchase of inputs for the production of handicrafts with the purpose of subsidizing artistic production.

The purpose of this action is to reintroduce self-employed elderly people into the job market, who need professional direction, in addition to cataloging all handicraft techniques for future generations, preserving culture, cuisine and handicrafts. This humanitarian aid becomes of fundamental importance, for those who do not have more energy, health and time to change and adapt to new realities, but who need to be recognized for their skills and life experiences.

Elderly Jobs offer a wealth of knowledge and skills. Through traditional methods that have been perfected over generations, they provide quality craftsmanship that will last for years. Working with wood, metal and fabrics, they create functional and beautiful pieces of art. Their skill and dedication are an invaluable contribution to society and a source of pride and joy for those who receive their creations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented an array of challenges for older workers who are already facing a tough job market. The economy is expected to contract and the number of job openings could dwindle, while at the same time, an aging population means a greater proportion of elderly workers competing for the same few positions. However, as companies try to rebuild and get back on their feet after the pandemic, many are turning to the elderly for help.

This means a range of jobs in different industries are becoming available to the elderly post pandemic. Jobs in hospitality and health care are the most in-demand and the salaries are relatively good. Many elderly workers are choosing to take part-time jobs in order to gain the flexible hours that work better with their lifestyle.

For those who don't want to be in the traditional work force, freelancing and working from home is becoming a viable option. Services like tutoring, gardening, or virtual assistance can be lucrative while providing the comfort and convenience of working from home. There is also an increased demand for technology tutoring services as the elderly population is becoming more tech-savvy and wanting to make sure they are up to speed with modern technologies.

Overall, there are plenty of opportunities for the elderly to be a part of the workforce again, post pandemic. Companies are beginning to understand the importance of diversity in the workplace and the elderly bring experience and perspective that young workers often lack. This can provide invaluable knowledge and make a company successful. It's an exciting time to be part of the elderly job market and the possibilities are only increasing.

Life was different after the pandemic, but it was an exciting different. It was a chance for people to re-discover the beauty of being in the presence of one another and share experiences without the looming worry of health concerns. As the post-pandemic life slowly started to unfold, we couldn't help but bask in the glory of re-discovery.

Our mission is to connect the elderly with some work and activities  in order to form meaningful, inter-generational relationships and enhance social interaction. Our services will focus on helping the elderly in the local community and  local churches by providing transportation, food, clothing to senior centers and running community outreach events. We hope to reduce social isolation amongst the elderly and bring awareness to the unique challenges they face.
