Nearly 50,000 Russian men have died in the war in Ukraine, according to the first independent statistical analysis of Russia’s war dead.
OHCHR has estimated the number of deaths of civilians, or non-armed individuals, in Ukraine at over 9.4 thousand since the start of the war on February 24, 2022.

MOSCOW, April 12 (Reuters) - As many as 354,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have been killed or injured in the Ukraine war which is grinding towards a protracted conflict that may last well beyond 2023, according to a trove of purported U.S. intelligence documents posted online.
If authentic, the documents, which look like secret U.S. assessments of the war as well as some U.S. espionage against allies, offer rare insight into Washington's view of one of Europe's deadliest conflicts since World War Two.

This concerns, for example, Mariupol (Donetsk region), Lysychansk, Popasna, and Sievierodonetsk (Luhansk region), where there are allegations of numerous civilian casualties.

We work closely with Churches and non-governmental organizations that help refugees and set them up in apartments, helping their families, job hunting, community, pay some bills and integrating them on the society. Some of them are orphans or have lost family members due to the war. These church's programs make them feel right at home, with Ukrainian and Russian dance, music and art, language and more.
Some say: "I never thought that in Brazil, across the ocean, people would speak Ukrainian," says Anastasiia. "It's a miracle."
The Ukrainian spoken in Prudentópolis is slightly different than what is spoken in Ukraine today — an older version of the language that was brought to the town over 100 years ago and never changed.
